PARASITISM II

Year: 2025
Materials: Oil Paint, Electrical Wire, Plaster Wrap, Masking Tape on 14” Diameter Circular Canvas

Parasitism II is part of a series of 5 works, with this one focusing on an ecorché self portrait of my hand. All pieces focus on both a skin layer, as well as an electrical wire sculptural muscle section. The Parasitism series is an exploration of my own experiences with how mental health and madness has shaped who I am. At times I feel disconnected from my own body, unsure of what about myself is my own and what is distorted by illness. I use electrical wires to mimic muscle fibres, an uncanny and inhuman mimic.
